DayZ 0.60 hit stable last night, meant I finally managed to game with some old friends I haven't played with for a while. So much fun with them. Managed to damage my leg with a flashbang. Looking forward to the weekend.

 

Nah, not too related. They both deal with some meta analysis of games and feature a narrator (not dynamic in BG) though.

Played through Gone Home last night. I have a lot to say, but it was a really great experience.

 

can someone give me just a dumbed down version of what Discord is exactly and why it's useful?

 

Essentially it's Slack + TeamSpeak.

Slack: a very popular group chat client for teams/organizations, split into "channels" (a la IRC) such as #general, #developers, #sales, #random (assuming this was a company where you have different teams). But in Discord's case you could have #general, #overwatch (for OW-specific chat), #WoW, etc.

TeamSpeak: a popular voice chat client that is also split into channels, so you can join a persistent channel and have group voice chat. Was used very extensively (as well as others like Ventrilo and Mumble) for raiding in WoW and other group gaming activities where you need to be able to communicate with your team.

So tl;dr it's group text chat and voice chat in one client, it also integrates with other gamer-related services like Twitch. But it's very slick, looks great (has a dark theme!). It also will tell you what games people are currently playing (auto detects on PC, or you can manually enter a game if you're playing on console). We just have it for if people would like to have a group chat for the Video Games community.

So I'm having issues with my ps4 games lagging and the controls are very delayed. Any idea how to fix it?

It's the 2nd time this has happened but with a different game this time
