yes, his games are bizarre, but i'm convinced Swery65 is also a goddamn genius when it comes to creating an emotionally resonant and engaging environment, including with (occasionally very eclectic) soundtrack
Yoko Shimomura is just so good at music and it makes me smile so much Sorry just felt the need to post that
Finally got around to playing Journey last night. By far the best combination of music and gameplay I've ever experienced. Everything just flows together so beautifully.
Tumbleseed OST is very good and on band camp https://joelcorelitz.bandcamp.com/album/tumbleseed-original-soundtrack-2
Damn when I hear this music and close my eyes I still remember maps style. Spent many hours playing it.
cc to many but especially @ChaseTx NEW DISTANT WORLDS Distant Worlds IV: more music from FINAL FANTASY, by Distant Worlds: music from FINAL FANTASY
Kinda skimmed but here are some standout thoughts on it: -JENOVA COMPLETE percussion sounds extremely sloppy -Battle With The Four Fiends through The Oath is flawless -APOCALYPSIS NOCTIS sounds incredible but I wish it wasn't limited to 2 minutes -Dragonsong sounds great and I'm pretty sure it's the Dallas recording because there's a really familiar slip in it, unless it's actually part of the Distant Worlds rendition -Cosmo Canyon and Fang's Theme are probably the best parts -Somnus through the end is wonderful Overall it's very similar to the Distant Worlds II album, a couple of missteps or weird song choices but the strong choices more than make up for it with how amazing they are. (Unlike the Distant Worlds I album where it's consistently great but not as risky with the song choices)
Hyper Light Drifter has a pretty haunting soundtrack. Also, check out this live performance from the in house composer from Supergiant Games, Darren Korb. They made the games Bastion, Transistor, and Pyre.
Yo lets resurrect this sucker. Silent Hill 3 - End of Small Sanctuary. Somber guitar, reminds me of orange and yellow hues as the sun sets over the city. Slightly contrasted to the sinister horrors that await later in the game. A last bastion of calm before heading into evil. Silent Hill 2 - Heaven's Night. Dank, foggy, neon, mellow, vibe. Chrono Cross - Forest of Cutting Shadow(I know it as simply "Shadow Forest"). My favorite videogame soundtrack which makes it one of my favorite games. Fallout 4 - Brightness Calling. Taking a nap to Inon Zur's ambiant Fallout's overworld exploration music is the absolute best. Halo3: ODST - Deference to Darkness. Somber. Ambient. Saxophones.
