I'm not nearly the gamer I used to be, but every time I put on the Ocarina of Time soundtrack I'm taken back to a simpler time. That's the only original soundtrack I can think of that left that kind of lasting impression. But really, first-party Nintendo games have a way of always being good. GTA: San Andreas is up there as far as compilations go.
This soundtrack always making me sad... so poignant. Great atmosphere of hopelessness and apocalypse. 100 out of 100 points!!!
I wake up to this song every morning and it is glory incarnate I would link to Megalovania, the greatest vidya game song of all time, but most videos of the song have spoilers so I'll refrain
HOTS is one my favorite games. And the music is just incredible. Here's a fantastic acapella group doing that main theme: And this is new to the game. It's the current music when you log-in. Was released the same day the new hero Dehaka was added. the transition at 1:50 is everything.
I had the stupidest grin on my face at this point in the game. Snowdin Town is my personal fav, could listen to that all day long.
Woah, those are really awesome, especially the acapella one. I'm not a fan of the game, but can't deny that the music is fantastic.
I just came across that the new log-in music for HOTS (Dehaka home screen) is a much shorter version of the official theme for the Zergs in Starcraft (another Blizzard game).
Starcraft was the shit back in the day. The custom UMS games were where it was at. I have yet to play the new ones since I no longer have a gaming PC.
I play a ton of games, but music in games has never really grabs me. Zelda games and The Last of Us are the only games that come to mind for me. The scores in them are incredible.
Seconding the shout out to Life Is Strange that I found while skimming this thread. Adding on to that, the soundtrack for Divinity: Original Sin has been my favorite - composed by the late Kiril Pokrovsky, RIP. Larian are working on D:OS 2 with a new composer and I can only hope that he can be consistent with the original soundtrack feel. Never played this game but my friend had me listen to the Age of Mythology soundtrack and it was just the right balance of epic and serene.
i always get jealous at a capella singers who are significantly better than i will ever be at any music
Go for it! Such an immersive and intelligent game that doesn't take itself too seriously. Don't bother with the original - grab the Enhanced Edition.
