Framing Russell for always being an ass to her, and with his obsession with being principal being his motive to kill gamby.
But if it were Christine, she wouldn't be framing Russell... it was her car at the time of the shooting.
Holy fucking shit that was absolutely incredible. So fucking intense and well directed (by McBride nonetheless) I still don't think Russell did it
I’m so thrilled that I have no clue where this is going to end up. I personally don’t think Russell is the shooter but i haven’t been reading any theories so I’m going into the finale totally open to everything. Going to be sad to see the show go.
I'm pretty sure Russel shot Gamby, unless he's devious enough to be able to use the fact that Gamby thinks he's the shooter to his future advantage somehow.
Well he did provoke him and try to get him fired I just don't get why he'd wear a mask, he'd do it gleefully without any qualms
Spoiler about the finale: the preview for next week showed Russell in front of a board, similar to Gamby's.. as if Russell is trying to solve the murder to prove his innocence.
Honestly have absolutely no idea what to expect from the finale. I figured there would at least be a tag that set up the final conflict. Lee definitely didn't do it, I still think Ms Abbot, though with not much confidence. Ray is still the funniest answer but I they'd really have to give a good reason. I also love the idea of Christine's Mom when it comes to ridiculous theories.
Like everyone else has said, they have done an amazing job keeping you guessing on who has shot gamby. If I had to pick someone right now though... I still lean Ray.
I guess that's true. Didn't Abbot show up right before the mask thing? I was watching the episode late at night, but if that's the case, she is my strongest suspect.
I'll go with Ms. Abbott based on the last shot of the episode and how bat shit crazy she is I don't think she pulled the trigger, but certainly set it in motion
I think the last scene with ms. Abbot staring at them makes it too obvious so I don’t think it’s her, but who knows!
I've also been wondering if there's been too much evidence for Abbot and it's a misdirect, but I can't tell, it tows the line pretty well.
On Sam Jones' podcast, McBride talked about the writing process and how they go over every script like a hundred times to nail the dialogue. They wrote the entire series before shooting to stay ahead of the audience and not change their end goal in between seasons based on reaction. These guys are way too smart to tease it being Russell two episodes before the finale. I'd be incredibly shocked if it turns out to actually be hm. His mannerisms set him up to be the villain but there's no way he actually is. Abbot is so whacky and the last shot teases it potentially being her which is again -- another reason why I can't see it actually happening. Ray was my pick in season one and he's still my pick because the idea is so great. He's been such a non-threat to Gamby that it would insane for it to be him. I don't know why he'd do it but he seems like a good choice.
