Lol im a huge fan of Vic's music. Those are just my opinions on the matter. Sometimes I wish we didn't have as much social media contact with artists as we do now. We get 1000 percent more of them than we need. Back in the days an artist would drop an album, you'd hear from them during interviews and promo runs then they would fall back again. I preferred it. Makes us focus on the music.
pretty sure it's not fair to compare crimes that are a product of complicated environments to that of someone using their power to literally run a cult of abuse
I prefer it this way, especially with artists of color being able to have a voice now when they didn't used to have a platform.
Yes that crossed my mind. But for Vic to say "its time for r kelly to go to jail for a long time". It makes the comparison. Why just Kelly? What makes you feel so strongly about this particular individual Vic when there are literally no facts present. R Kelly is taking children away from their parents. So are people who kill or deal. Its still a choice at the end of the day. There are still lots of individuals who steer clear of that. Anyway we could go back and fourth about it all day I don't think it will get us anywhere cause shit is definitely not that simple. I just think Vic is quick to throw the man under the bus.
omg.. gross :( it was a nathan fielder tweeet that made me laugh but now i regret it anyway fuck this dude! blocked!
Lol this is such a crock of shit dude. How does condemning R Kelly for his crimes equate to ignoring other types of crime? Again, big difference between drug dealing (where there are more systemic factors at play) and I don't know, say, sexually abusing and manipulating women. But no you're right, the guy who peed on a child on video and MARRIED A 15 YEAR OLD couldn't possibly have done this
Man I got around to listening to this album and I just wanted to talk about it but this...this is a mess...
Don't gotta tell me twice lol Idk what the consensus on it is here but while I was into it, I don't really see myself going back to it. I think Vic is a good rapper and a thoughtful writer but there's a serious lack of hooks imo. Maybe it's cause of the sheer amount of awesome hip hop albums that were released this year but the production didn't stand out to me either. He did a cool interview with NPR which was kind of my introduction to this album:
this album feels over compressed to me and the production doesn't hit very hard because of it I think homewrecker and didn't i are really good hooks, but the rest are trying really hard
I like the Down for Some Ignorance hook a lot off the top of my head Coffee & Cigarettes too but I can see why people wouldn't
I felt pretty much the same way about it. Spot on with the J. Cole comparison. It seems sincere but it's boring and I have not listened to it once since my first listen. Way too much great hip hop coming out to listen to stuff that's just okay.
J. Cole has found his own sound though, 4 Your Eyez Only is very secure in that regard. Vince very much hasn't. In my opinion that is actually his biggest problem.
I'm assuming you met Vic not Vince but yea I guess that's true, only thing is J. Cole has four albums under his belt and this is Vic's debut.
@skogsraet Yes Vic not Vince lmao. Cole is also a producer so that helps too I would assume, plus he's older.
