I didn't expect horror, but I kind of think R would be warranted to get the tone/feel/violence of Venom right.
Why would a PG 13 rating in 2018 make this ... unwatchable? People are weird. Venom's not fucking Spawn.
I mean I agree with you but I never expected that to happen just because it would ruin any future tie-in with Spider Man
I don't know about you but I can only enjoy movies if there are f-words and heads being bitten clean off people
I realize my initial comment was probably pretty extreme. I'll still watch it more than likely, but can't help but feel the tone/violence associated with Venom could be neutered with a lower/more kid friendly rating. Maybe i'll be completely wrong. I guess we had to deal with it with Wolverine for years before Logan.
Movies like Spawn, Dark Knight, Sucker Punch, Austin Powers, Drag me to Hell were all PG-13 and those had some f-bombs and gruesome parts.
I ultimately did not intend to start this kind of debate. I'll be more strategic/thoughtful about my opinions in the future.
I think originally it was when it was released in theaters and then it got dropped to PG-13 for a home release. I was trying to research this a few months ago.
For me, the movie looks like it has corny b movie dialog so an R Rating with off the wall violence would have fit it and been something different. For the PG-13 Rating, it will probably just be a typical superhero movie. Maybe I'm wrong, that's just my take on why I'm far less excited now.
I simply hope it's good, but I'm not going to be remotely surprised or let down if it isn't, and I'll leave it at that.
Want this to be great or so bad that I can make fun of it for a while, I feel like it’s just gonna be mediocre though
