I'm expecting Amazing Spider-Man quality in terms of screenplay and dialogue. Tonally the trailers look a lot like that series too.

I mean, the first ASM has the best character writing out of all 6 theatrical Spidey films...

I highly disagree. Spider-Man 2 has wonderful character writing and development that felt very natural and unforced.

Every Spidey film is a mixed bag, each w/ its own unique blend of great & awful. SM2 has Doc Ock, Jameson, & some nice Peter moments here and there going for it. But, man, I don't understand how its contradictory conflicts (I'm losing my powers! vs I don't wanna be Spider-Man!) gets a pass. And, I'll get over how that trilogy failed both Peter & MJ so hard overall, lol.

For all the messy details in ASM, it honestly simply has the most effective and natural character arc.

I feel like ASM is one of the best Spiderman movie, but a dark cloud hangs over it in form of that awful sequel.

I'm hoping the animated one is truly the best one though.

Not to say I subscribe to everything this guys says but he makes some good points on the ASM films:

Especially regarding the characterization path they took for Peter Parker/Spidey.

The idea that ASM2 is *so* bad that it took someone three days to watch it is just so ridiculous to me even with its flaws haha

    lol ok buddy.

Does the video say that? Dang. I didn't even give it a try 'cause that title and thumbnail made it seem pretty insufferable, lol.

Haha yeah he says it in like the first 5 mins and then I turned it off

The video is pretty insufferable. I'd watch ASM 1 and 2 multiple times in a day before I sit through the "fun charming camp" of Spider Man 3 once

If I had more time than I do, and more money than I do, I'd get a better computer and the right programs and finally make the recut version of ASM2 I can't get out of my head. Much of the comic-book-y tone and pacing just isn't gonna be everyone's cup of tea, but, dang it, there's some stellar stuff in there. So much of it feels like Lee, Romita, Conway, Stern, etc. brought to life.

The ASM movies are so blandly forgettable. Spider Man 3 is a trainwreck, but its batshit insanity is kind of fascinating in a way.

For all the issues with every Spider-Man film, all the ups and downs, I don't think any of them are forgettable? Weird. Especially ASM2. Say what you want about how unfocused the final product was, but that film drips with personality.

That's actually something that I think every Spidey film has gotten right in one way or another. The Raimi films may be held back by a hopelessly charmless lead, but the surrounding material is so vibrant. The Webb films have irresistible leads and some delightful costumed stuff right out of a comic book. And, while Homecoming might have the overall most vanilla direction, even it has moments, particularly in the school.

What did you think of the alternate ending for ASM2?

It's interesting, but not really good, lol. Part of me is curious what would've happened in they kept Richard's return, and then made an ASM3 going deeper down that rabbit trail. But, for the most part, I think all that background conspiracy was a distraction from the real heart of the film.

Woah I was not aware there was an alternate ending

Noticed they have someone saying symbiote correctly in this trailer lol.

I'm still not sure how I feel about the movie from the trailers. Just seems like kind of a mess. I can barely understand what Venom is saying (literally had to rewind the trailer to hear the "Eyes, lungs..." line) and the "humor" just seems pretty out of place. But we'll see how it ends up, I'm going to see it regardless just because I love anything Spider-Man related.

you guys ready for "Venom... FOR THE KIDS!"

Can't believe they really pushed a PG-13 rating. Immediately made this unwatchable

I really thought this was going to be an R rated horror movie. Really disappointed that's not the case.

  25. lol why would this ever be a R-rated horror movie - sure it's disappointing but if it's a R movie then there is zero chance Venom shows up in any future Spider-Man movies and vice versa
