Got all the usual Emmy noms plus Matt Walsh for supporting actor! Would have preferred Timothy Simons but Walsh is great too.
Decided to finally start this show since the season is premiering next month. Watched the entire first season today, and definitely really enjoyed it, and more so as it went on, but I wouldn't go farther than that. I'm guessing it gets better? That's what the IMDB ratings of the episodes lead me to believe at least
The inclusion of Ben, Kent, and eventually Richard help raise the bar significantly. This show tends to work best the more personalities are bouncing off each other
Just finished the fourth season and I can't fucking believe I didn't start watching this sooner. It's so hilarious, the cast is great, and I feel like I'm genuinely learning shit about politics lol. Gonna start S5 tomorrow then I'll be all caught up
It's been said multiple times that, as far as tv is concerned, this show is probably the closest thing you'll get to the actual world of American politics
They've been showing the new season trailer on HBO recently, and it's legit funnier than most of the comedies I watch
The Wire is much closer to real politics than Veep. However, Veep does do a good job at showing the inherent falseness of the public image they show to voters.
Has anyone watched the British version called The Thick Of It? Honestly so funny, I would recommend it if you like VEEP. My favourite line from it is "Come the fuck in, or fuck the fuck off". Peter Capaldi is just outstanding on it.
The Thick of It was such a fantastic show. The episode with inquiry in the last season was so fucking good, I was glad Veep did a similar episode.
