Only half watched so gotta watch it again, but wanted to mention this line from Oslo last week because holy shit it made me and my wife laugh so hard. "I gotta get out of Iowa, I searched for non-chain restaurants and Yelp basically told me to go fudrucker myself" lol...so good. It is true how many communities rely on chain restaurants when you get out of the east coast/west coast areas and not near big cities.
Aw man... poor fucking Gary. I felt so bad for him when he gave her that last look. And then the moment in the oval Office when she realizes she’s alone and Gary’s not there was sad too. Was there a significance to what she was looking at on the table in that scene?
I think it was just her realization that she alienated/sold out/fired/lost/got fucking arrested everyone who she had any sort of relationship to become President
https://tv.avclub.com/veeps-series-finale-is-as-conniving-callous-and-cackl-1834712077 I'm really going to miss this show
They really stuck the landing. Incredible series from start to finish. Only bad part is that it is over.
amazing end, very emotional to see it go, ive rewatched this numerous times over but gonna have to do another rewatch with the last season included. gary's ending was too heartwrenching though also not sure if this was intentional (though it seemed like it was) but the tom hanks thing at the end seems to be a callback to mike saying in the first episode that they shouldnt worry about their problem at that moment because tom hanks might die and theyll be off the news cycle
The show hasn't been as good as it was in Seasons 2 and 3, and the plot has relied too much on extreme events (a Presidential resignation, a contested convention, and an Electoral College decided by Congress in such a short period of time), but the ending was really quite good. The complete amorality of Meyer was always there, but here we get an idea of what she must have done to become Vice President in the first place. Halfway through the episode I thought Splett would become President at the convention, but it worked out great and it earned its serious moments.
That almost definitely had to be call back, along with just being a funny joke that she'd always get one upped lol. I also think Richard's "3 state solution" that won him a Nobel Peace Prize is a call back to one of his off hand comments he made in the past, I swear I've heard him say that before
I am so sad this is over. One of my season highlights was when the lady comes out on news to deny any sexual conduct with Jonah. Had me in stitches they went that route with that.
I fucking loved it. I appreciated the fact that Selina was a one term president after all of that so the mental image of her having to campaign all over again and go through all of that hell to run again but without any of the people who actually got her there in the first place was kinda satisfying Also lol @ Jonah being impeached as a Vice President
My first memory of her is watching But I'm A Cheerleader on HBO when I was 12(ish) years old and seeing the "contains nudity/sexual content" warning and I'm like hell yeah, cheerleaders and nudity. Then I got super into the story and didn't care that it wasn't a shitty premium cable porn. Still think about that movie a lot. I probably shouldn't post this.
"Yeah? Well go shit yourself, Long Tall Sally." I mentioned Veep in my AP Gov class today and it prompted me to watch a "best insults" reel on youtube and for some reason that one made me LMAO
