I've always been interested in his time in Boston. Does it get into that? Or just the recording stuff in NY?
Hey Astral Weeks is 50 today, everybody! Van Morrison’s ‘Astral Weeks’ Is 50, but It Never Ages Van Morrison: The Pettiest Musical Genius of His Time
expanded/deluxe edition reissue of 1997's The Healing Game out today Never listened to this record before today but like most Van albums it's very good imo
oh lol yeah i always forget enlightenment and hymns to the silence are the '90s, those are my other two faves
i wrote about them a few years ago https://theconcourse.deadspin.com/astral-years-a-seekers-guide-to-van-morrison-in-the-80-1700003646
this is really excellent and is a great resource I often go back to as I continue my journey through the massive van discog
Common One is an all-time record for me on the level of Veedon Fleece / Astral Weeks I'd say start with Into the Music though
hell yeah Van Morrison Announces New Album 'Three Chords & The Truth,' Shares Single "Dark Night Of The Soul": Listen
The Goldfinch had a really great needledrop of Them's "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue". Van's vocal on that is so absurdly good.
Also, I don't know how I didn't realize that the man released Moondance AND His Band.. in the same year!!!
The lack of availability of his catalog is criminal. Every store that sells CDs that I stumble into, I immediately check for St. Dominic's Preview, Veedon Fleece and Hard Nose the Highway.
I'm up to Into the Music in my listen-through. Not a bad tape yet! I don't remember if I've heard the next few or not. No Guru rules. After that I don't think I've heard any outside of most of Avalon Sunset.
