My work got a new playlist and they now play Harmony Hall and This Life, I really hope I don't get sick of them now lol
Something that I have been thinking about since I listened to the Song Exploder podcast is how Vampire Weekend is essentially an Ezra Koening solo vehicle now. I find it somewhat interesting that I have seen very little discussion about this. Everyone knows Rostam is no longer a part of Vampire Weekend, but did anyone else not realize that Chris Baio and Chris Tomson are not involved with Father of the Bride? I only found this out today. They aren't credited anywhere on the entire album, only are members of the live band now. I'm not saying this in a way that bothers me, I love this album a TON and in the end it doesn't matter what path they band took to get to this point, but I do really find it interesting that I haven't seen any discussion about it here, on their wikipedia page, or anywhere really.
Yeah, from what I gather it was really Ezra and Ariel that created these songs top to bottom. Danielle contributed a lot of vocals, but didn't do any writing or producing. Then there were a few contributions from other artists for a song or two. But yeah, it definitely feels to me like Ezra and Ariel are the heart of this album. Also, there's some strange irony in the fact that Rostam worked on this album (produced two tracks, played guitar on one) more than Chris and Chris did
Something tells me this made it...easier...for the other members of the band to still be in the band.
We can all agree that 'We Belong Together' joins an ELITE group of songs that are legit cringe-worthy. Just terrible
Tbh most of my favorite songs are the ones with Danielle. But I guess that’s more than I even realize lol
