I am going to have to give this a serious listen where I can pay attention on the drive in to work this afternoon. It is very good. Just getting to give it a cursory listen this AM though and there are several songs that I do not like nearly as much as everyone else seems to, which is a bummer. Like the opener. None of the songs are terrible by any means, but I don't like a lot of the songs with the guests nearly as much as the other songs. I could see this drastically changing for me though because I did not like "Big Blue" at first but I now consider it absolutely essential. I still haven't come around on "Sunflower" or "2021" but I am hoping I might as I really get to listen to this whole thing as an album.
Same here. I feel like I might end up making a streamlined playlist of this album which doesn't include it.
8.0 BNM This is cool, I'm playing it through my projector while my kids work so I'm half paying attention. Better on second listen.
without having heard, I predict > 8.5 bnm anyways, super excited for this - will wait for it to appear on Spotify tonight
Was totally not expecting this unanimous praise tbh since Modern Vampires is the only one I really return to. Can’t wait for tonight!
I hope this grows on me, I don’t think I like it as much as everyone else seems to. It’s not bad, but it is substantially longer than their other albums and feels a bit same-y to me.
This is so all over the board. I am not sure how I feel about it. But Bambina, How Long, and Rich Man are all gems.
How’s the production on this? I was worried about that getting less “interesting” without Rostams full presence.
This is a very different kind of vampire weekend album but there are flourishes throughout that remind you that this is the same band that released modern vampires
