I don’t love all of it but oh my god this is such an overwhelming and impressive display of a band firing on all cylinders
Can't believe it's been six years since Modern Vamps came out. Feels like just yesterday I was hanging out in my parent's pool with a beer in hand, listening to Diane Young.
Didn’t really love Married in a Gold Rush but other than that, this album elicited a pretty big wow from me. It may not be as powerful as Modern Vampires was for me, but this record seems significant. It’s EXTREMELY impressive.
Gonna save my hyperbolic reactions for a couple more listens but it’s unbelievably good and there’s not a song I don’t love
I’m not ashamed. Best Vampire Weekend album. And MVotC is probably top 20 most loved and listened to record for me ever.
They won’t BUT I think this is the first album since MBDTF that P4K could give a 10. I think it warrants it. It’s the perfect balance of everything. Publication has to put its self out there at some point. Just handing out 10s to reissues is a little too safe imo.
I’d say overall my least favorite song is “Sympathy”? Just to toss one out? Idk haha. Could see that being people’s favorite too. Favorites: “Hold You Now”, “Flower Moon”, “How Long?”, “Stranger”
Wowowowowow. It’s every bit as good as I expected it to be. A Pitchfork 10 was my prediction back in January when this thing was announced and mannn, I’d love to be right. I really think it deserves it. If not, between 8-9 BNM for sure.
this seriously is so much better than i expected. i had high expectations but kind of thought with 18 tracks thered be some filler but nope.
They have in the past. Kanye, Wilco, Pavement, And You Will Know Us, Radiohead, etc. I don’t think this gets it. Shit they could give this a 7.5, they way they’ve sworn off indie rock. But I think a low 9 is reasonable.
