That sounds way more like a step up of the formula they started on EIEL. Very cool song on first listen that I can tell needs multiple listens to really understand what's going on. EDIT: Second listen, big ManOrch vibes on this one.
nope, worked with Kevin Billingslea who did their last record. Also music video for the song: So, so awesome to see how much T&N is putting behind them and this record, especially after not much coming from Rise with EIEL. Side note on T&N, I grew a T&N kid and so awesome how they’ve had somewhat of a “resurgence“ these past few years. Great signings, and more variety like the early 2000’s
Holy shit this song is so good. By the way, I might be wrong but this is what Devin said on the Emery discord: "BEC is just a branch of T&N and now the label is fully independent. It used to be owned by Capitol/EMI Music Group" Not sure if this has anything to do with the T&N signings lately but it might be.
I’m pretty sure they’ve been independent for a while now iirc from the labeled podcast. The period from like 2008-2015ish was rougher for them because of the music industry in general, artists leaving or popularity going downwards, and signing artists/bands that they thought were gonna “blow up” vs artists they believed in.
Agreed. I was really worried they would be a one and done due to the botch job that Rise did with EIEL. I don't think it ever saw a physical release under their watch. T&N's resurgence and Valleyheart were such a match made in heaven. I hope this band/album gets them to the next level.
Another great song, but honestly I'm a little surprised this track was given the full single treatment (released in advance of the album + music video) as it feels more like a low-key, back-half of the album gem.
I’m ready for this to come out Songs are growing on me. I want this to battle with caracara for my AOTY. High hopes
Was gonna hold off on that single but had to check it out based on those comments. Actually didn’t feel all that grabbed by it until the outro part. Liked the vocal delivery in the verses too. I guess maybe it’s really just those choruses I expected more from but I’m sure this record will have a few to chew on
Had only listened to their last EP, which didn’t grab me, but @Leftandleaving encouraged me to check this out and I absolutely love The Numbers. Your Favorite Jacket is really good too. Really looking forward to this.
Good for them. They really seem to be getting a lot of exposure lately. I was shocked to see their monthly streams on Spotify was up to 90k.
