Valleyheart - Everyone I’ve Ever Loved (Rise Records, December 14, 2018) Album • Page 5

  1. I’ve inexplicably had “The (Shipped) Gold Standard” but Fall Out Boy in my head the last few days and just realized it’s because the chorus melody in Agnosia is the same thing haha

I am SO glad people are listening to Stay Outside in this thread. I made a thread for them two years ago when Okay, For Now came out and no one ever acknowledged the existence of them.

I've been absolutely obsessed with this. It's not doing anything groundbreaking, but what it is doing is just EXTREMELY up my alley.

I was really hoping to LOVE this and although I do quite like the album (it's still growing on me) I think the EP is better.

I still don't know what to compare this to. It's like Citizen and Turnover smashed together. Maybe Turnover if they made an album between Magnolia and Peripheral Vision. But with more compelling lyrics than either of those bands.

Idk about that Citizen's lyrics are pretty compelling to me.

Yeah I'm sure there's an argument to be made. As a Christian, these really resonate with me though.

wrap yourself in petals for armor.

I have listened to this almost every day since it came out. It's a late addition but it's making my top album list this year.

Fuck, this really is great. Agreed with the Citizen and Turnover comparisons. I wasn’t expecting to be hit so hard by the lyrics. Great stuff.

Kind of thinking Heaven and Hell is a perfect song.

The outro in Heaven & Hell hits hard.

I'd compare them to My Epic as well. Especially their most recent ep: ‎Ultraviolet - EP by My Epic

My Epic’s my favorite band and I didn’t even think to compare the two. But I can definitely see the parallels.

I’m listening to Ultraviolet right now. Really digging this.

Yeah that ep is great. I've been playing it all year. It never left my rotation.

I see what they were doing with the closer, and it’s fine, but man, Communion hits so hard, especially with the call back to Heaven and Hell at the end.

I really like the choice of having the call back in the penultimate track instead of the closer. It resolves everything before getting really reflective in the closing song.

Each time I listen to this it gets betters. The first few times the middle kinda meshed together and blended, but more listens help it. So many different influences I feel like, like turnover, Copeland, and a lot of the middle of it feels/sounds like moving mountains waves to me

Oo Waves is a good comparison. A lot of the heavier parts remind me of ManOrch too. I've listened to this an insane amount since it came out. 231 song plays. What are some of y'all's favorite lyrics from this? My two:

    Heaven and Hell:
"In the garden, I saw I was falling asleep
And on complacent ground, I slept for eternity
And everything I've ever done was there
In the space I'm caught between, reaching out to me"

    Intangible Dream:
"Oh God, how I love you
How I’ll take on your pain
    But I am no messiah
    No cross that I claim
But I promise to keep you
    And walk through the trials
    With your hand in mine
    With every step in truth
    Oh, have we been fooled?"

    Dissolve:
“And if I make it to the pearly gates
Or just dissolve into the darkness
All pride and shame the same
    Fruitless in their toil
    Swallowed by the soil”

The way the guitar crashes in after this line is so haunting. I love how forelorn and desperate even some of the guitar parts sound on this thing.

"Now I hear the preacher, who speaks from your screen
He sounds like an asshole with words of prosperity
And you look on so purely, so full of belief
But it’s not hope he gives you, but some intangible dream"

I love the way he says asshole.
