The 1975 thread is definitely a special kind of thread, i'd put it up there with the SW thread, bc everyone who goes in there is in there bc theyre a huge fan, no moderate levels of fandom would tolerate it, but inside the walls of the thread all the superfans just shit on eachother's preferences and opinions and sometimes even the band itself lol

One time I said I didn’t like the flow of the second album and I genuinely got told I was a fucking insensitive scumbag because someone who did IV drugs listened to it while they were struggling. I get that for sure but I also feel like hating on something designed for teenagers will always be the lowest hanging fruit. And it’s not a coincidence that it’s always men who rush to condemn anything that is mostly popular among teenage girls

that being said there is definitely concern to be had about the pedophilic undercurrent that is able to take place on there
I just don’t think it makes the place bad as a whole

I think it’s actually pretty normal for teenagers to be experimenting with their sexuality and image, all teens do. We’re just in a really new era of them doing it in a place that is so publicly accessible

like 15 year olds dressing/behaving sexually isnt the problem, it’s the older (men) being predators that’s the problem
