like I want things to be “normal” again too but pretending the virus doesn’t exist is...not the way to do that..

 

No shame! I usually just wait until it starts getting stuck in things, then I know it's time for a cut

 

Yeah they might be sending state workers back in two weeks (me). Seems ridiculous since we finally are setup to work from home and everything is finally running smoothly

 

Pools and beaches i truly cannot fathom due to the almost forced close proximity especially with pools - stores and restaurants I can see, if they're operating at minimum capacity, but none of it feels like the right move still, we are still less than 8 weeks into this quarantine even though it feels like it's been an eon.

 

I literally just received a call from someone asking with beaches in Collier county are open today

Right like so they spent all this time and effort getting you set up just to say nvm come back in then there’s going to be an inevitable second wave where they go actually go back home again and you have to get set up all over again lmao

I can’t fathom it either even tho I understand why people are begging for it. Like ofc it would be nice to be able to go to the beach when we’re all stuck at home but thinking we can keep our distance at the beach is just....something that happens a lot better in theory than in practice.
Pools I almost understand bc ideally the chlorine is killing anything. Also makes sense for situations like apt complexes or whatever. Like, in my neighborhood pretty much no one is ever at the pool. I’ve seen someone there once and they were just laying out. I am happy my pool is reopening bc I don’t feel at risk there. That doesn’t mean it makes sense as a sweeping motion!

and yes they have all these rules they are supposed to follow about capacity and seating and such but a) I don’t trust people to follow them and b) my restaurant industry friends have made good points that it’s actually more harmful to open up and expect them to be able to afford to stay running while only being able to serve 1/4 of the people. Like... servers going back will be making 1/4 of their usual money- why would that be worth it to them? Especially in contrast to unemployment (if they were even able to get on it, which is kinda a joke but still)

Yeah I do, haha. People will call the Department of Environmental protection for the dumbest shit. One guy asked if he could bury his horse in his back yard. Some people try to report their utility issues to us or report their neighbors for dumb things. Some people have health concerns over things, and it's like - call a doctor? It's wild.
