Can’t go to work cos gf’s temperature is still 38+. Being paid though! Because she’s week from the kidney stuff we just sleep all day. Can’t complain.

So is she majorly sick or just a cold?

 

She has a kidney infection. We went into the hospital yesterday not knowing this and the doctor was like wtf you should’ve come here a week ago and immediately put her on an IV. High temperature is characteristic of kidney infections, but as our company is so worried about coronavirus, we aren’t allowed to come into schools if we’re above 37.5 degrees. And because I live with her, by proxy I can’t go if she has the temperature in case it was corona and I have it too.

 

I don't understand how you could possibly be that dumb and have a job.

 

I'm getting my oil changed and a lady in the waiting room is wearing a mask over her mouth but not her nose......?

I think the worst thing about the masks is that the current belief/information i am seeing circulated is that, it won't prevent you from getting it, but it could prevent others from spreading it, which i take to mean some folk who have it probably assume if they go out in public with a mask everything is OK. i've seen a 100% uptick in mask-wearing in like the last week or so ... i was relatively comfortable still making like grocery store, coffee shop, 711 runs, but now every time i leave my apartment i'm worried.

 

The uptick is because the cdc is now recommending it
I think overall wearing a “mask” (especially if that mask is just fabric) isn’t that helpful but I wore one when I went grocery shopping because I didn’t want to deal with anyone who asked me why I wasn’t wearing one when it’s recommended ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 

As someone in a country filled with people wearing masks at all times even prior to corona, I actually think they’re far more helpful than folk say. Sure - if you have an infection or whatever it’s not going to change things. But if you’re there sneezing up a storm you’re far less likely to pass whatever on through that method. And by the same factor, you’re less likely to catch it from someone else. It’s a barrier that, when used in conjunction with good hygiene, is far more effective than not using one.

I can’t help but think (and I could be wrong?) that the masks you’re talking about tho are actual masks
Because people didnt just have masks on hand here most are using bandanas, scarves, etc. things that I’m not convinced actually provide a useful barrier.

 

Supposedly they’re working on blood tests that would be able to retroactively tell if you had it
So maybe there is a way to know for sure
