Ohio opened up 6 weeks ago and has been flat the whole time lol. I guess having a governor who never called it a hoax might have helped lol.

Yeah I mean to be fair, the spikes are currently all in places that didnt treat this thing with any respect to begin with. Florida, Texas, apparently Tennessee is also a new breeding ground for COVID. I think NYS did a good job but i also think we are reopening too quickly. I dont think Phase 3 should hit during summer. Phase 2 should have lasted all summer.

 

tbf the phases are arbitrary bullshit and it will probably never be 100% safe and people were going to get careless regardless

i dont necessarily disagree, but i think a scaled re-opening is needed and i think the 'phases' do a decent job of accomplishing that, but we're just blowing through them. it takes up to two weeks for people to get sick, and 2 weeks is out cutoff for phases. each phase should last a month or 6 weeks, so you can monitor the 2 weeks from phase start, see how many if any new cases are reported, then watch it for a few weeks, then move on if it's low numbers.

My grandma thinks it's a good idea to get on a plane in a week and fly back to NY from Miami. She's in her 80's but stubborn as hell cause she's been down there since the winter, but like she's playing russian roulette with her life and I'm scared about it.
