That’s the dynamic I’m referring to that I’ve seen play out both personally with multiple people I know, and online.

obviously, sometimes the convos go like “I want to be poly” “wow, me too” “great!” Lol and sometimes they are a lot more complicated and nuanced.
I’m just saying that from my experience the situation I described is very common. I’m only saying it, not to invalidate what you’re saying about your friend, but to explain where we’re coming from because as you said you only have experience with the one situation.
