Honestly it's not just 6a & 6b. Throughout the entire show there are examples of weird instance of plot lines just randomly being dropped/resolving themselves between episodes, times where they've wasted characters and events that could have provided whole seasons' worth of plotlines by randomly killing them off without warning in a way that was way too convenient, etc. It's pretty sloppily written in a lot of ways.

Still a great show but a lot of this stuff has been bugging me the whole time, and it kind of just came to a head tonight because we watched 6b episode 6, and when they, uh, wrote off that one character just as that character was about to maybe do something really interesting I was kind of really annoyed. Just mind-boggling how they'd waste that character like that.

 

But people die in real life in unresolved ways all the time! If anything it’s one of the strengths of the show that they leave so much potential behind in certain stories because in reality you often don’t get things tied up in neat bows and people often die or fail right when they’re on the cusp of major change/improvement. That’s why so much of it is pure tragedy.

I always love shows/films that feature realistic scenarios that don’t end dramatically or as expected. As you say - it’s far more human and honest to me?

Just restarted Dark and my stress level watching it is going to be so much higher this time around.

 

I’ve been contemplating finally starting it haha. Now I’m not so sure.

 

It’s really great and I can’t reveal much of why it’s stressful, but there’s definitely some aspects that will be hard to watch right now.

Also there are so many ways that the show stretches the realm of what’s believable in terms of “realism” that I’m not sure it earns that benefit of the doubt. Mostly it just comes across as the writers simply making really huge problems for Tony just go away for the sake of not having to actually write creative and satisfying solutions to them.

Still a great show, just really unsatisfying as a dramatic television series sometimes.
