I went to a protest remember!

there are a lot this weekend and I wanted to go but today really took it out of me so I don’t know

It sucks to not rly have a body that’s cut out for physical marches and protests but still trying to be involved as much as possible

not to be whiny but all the marches I’ve been to go so FAST. It makes me sad because I still have some mobility but if I can’t even handle it there must be a lotttt of people who can’t. And organizers haven’t cared to take that into account

it’s like it’s moving so fast you literally don’t even have time to stop and tie your shoe without getting left behind. And it’s fucking hot. I was like how are people not dying lol. How are people not stopping to take a break of any kind?!
we marched like a 5 mile route and they stopped literally twice.
my ass was saved because they specifically had people in cars with us the whole route (the way they were organized in this way was actually amazing) and there was a van with the door open just passing out food and water the whole way.
Before we left they had said “cars should be letting people hop in and out that’s kinda their purpose” so I was like can I hop in and they were super friendly and I just rode with them most of the time because I couldn’t handle the walk.

yea real shit this is technically the biggest civil rights movement in world history so i think anyone out in there ought to at least give themselves a little pat in the back for participating.

i cant say i have participated cuz of work hours but i have my own ways of fighting the capitalists.... im more of a behind the scenes guy, part of my job sometimes is 'installing' ugly signs in rich ppl's yards, which ive been doing A LOT lately. i can tell u 1sthand rich white ppl get really pissed when u fuck w their grass lmao

 

Well that’s sweet! I just am really frustrated that my physical self can’t match my mental self and Idk how to deal. In my head I am doing so much more.

Yeah a lot of them happen during typical work hours sadly. But the weekend ones around here are huge for that reason

also in st pete they meet daily at 2pm and 7pm. It’s wild / great. But yeah the 7pm option is so good for people who work a 9-5 type

 

Oh I didn’t even get to tell the best part

so we started downtown at city hall and then walked through downtown and came out into this hella wealthy neighborhood

and we’re going along like I said we’ve been constantly moving quickly up until now. And then we stop...and I realize we were stopped because one of the houses had a trump banner
We were just outside their house for like 10 minutes chanting and honking at them. It was pretty hilarious

Yeah it’s definitely hard. I appreciate people that stay behind to make sure whoever isn’t able to move as fast isn’t left behind.
Tho at one point our group started getting a gap in front of us, and someone ran up and was like “come on hurry!!” And we were like ...”??????” All of us just looked at each other and kept walking the same as before lol

 

yeah sadly there hasn’t been much of that here lol. Even tho yeah I’m like how aren’t there people trying to look out for other people? Especially in this case the most vulnerable people who are slower moving or maybe children etc
I guess that’s what the cars were for at this one, tho.
when I got in I was thanking him profusely and explaining to him how not being able to keep up in Tampa meant getting left behind literally by myself, with an inflammatory sign, in a part of Tampa I didn’t know at night.
so yeah I was very grateful for this option

Also props to you guys lol that’s baffling to me. It’s more inclusive and just flat out easier for the crowd to slow down vs speeding up
