This is a huge miss and completely ignores more compelling motivations in order to keep a last second reveal intact that isn't even good. So much bullshit is crammed in to give Red this weird convoluted motivation, when a much more satisfying movie would reveal the switch way earlier and explore the emotional impact of taking one's place, not knowing if you belong, not knowing who your family is, etc. etc. So many decisions don't make any sense knowing the reveal, could have been an entirely different more satisfying film with some minor adjustments.
I just watched this for the first time and started reading through this thread and it’s wild the difference in reaction between the first few pages and the last couple. I really liked it!
Haven't seen it since the theaters, but my impression was that it collapses under its own logic. That said, it's pretty ambitious and very well-acted. There's a ton to appreciate about it.
Also K&P reruns on right now and goddamn I wish they'd reunite to do like 6 episode runs every year or two.
