saw this Friday, loved it. definitely want to see it again. it was definitely one of those films I've been thinking about more since and reading up on. and then the past two nights it's crept into my nightmares haha. normal dream going and then oh look it's my tethered self come to kill me... sigh haha
The only "negative" for me was that it wasn't that scary, which is my fault for having those expectations. Get Out wasn't really scary, so I shouldn't have assumed this would be.
do y'all think that when a trans person transitions their tethered would as well also what happens when you get a haircut or tattoo or piercing does that affect the tethered, god forbid someone becomes an amputee or quadriplegic is the tethered affected or are Jason and Pluto the only host and tethered connected like that
If the above-ground person transitions or loses a limb or becomes paralyzed, then, well, it seems that the same thing would happen to the Tethered. Red was forced to mate with Abraham solely because Adelaide married and had children with Gabe, seems like there’s no limit to how far the connection goes.
One thing I thought about more was the way that the tethered seemed impervious to pain. Kitty's tethered was intentionally cutting herself even. When her husband's tethered was stabbed he really didn't react. Same with the daughter falling. Maybe they are just lifeless drones that manifest and mimic. It wasn't until the switch where things changed. She knew that the tethered version of herself would eventually return and she waited for this with a massive plan of revenge. The hows and whys of everything are the major points of interpretation. I like to think that there is some device that produces a copy of everyone at some point early in their existence. Still thinking a lot about the film which I have always said speaks volumes about it's quality level.
A name on the cast list I noticed was Kaya Howard from Moonrise Kingdom but I didn’t recognize her anywhere
Now that you mention it I remember that being a thing, Rachel would totally be a wine mom with an obnoxious teenage daughter lol
Watched this twice over the weekend and loved it. The soundtrack, the cinematography, the twists....everything I was hoping for and more.
Yeah this movie was even better a 2nd time. For some reason though the crowd was laughing the entire time. Like they thought it was a comedy or something.
People at my showing definitely laughed when they weren’t supposed to, but they also laughed when they were. It was a slightly odd vibe throughout.
I laughed when Zora appeared in Jason's doorway and said "Way to make Mom freak out" Only 2 other people did
I wish I could have tuned out the people around me they were super annoying I find the crowds for opening weekend showings of horror movies are almost always the absolute worst
people instantly started laughing at Red’s voice when she first spoke but then within a few seconds it was utter silence lol
I don't remember when but I def laughed at a part that I don't think was meant to be funny and nobody else laughed oop.
While we’re on this subject, the entire crowd I saw it with on saturday laughed at literally every single scene as if they thought Peele was delivering a legit comedy. It really bothered me.
There is a bit of inherent goofiness to the performance of the tethered, that I could see confusing wider audiences on what is supposed to be played for humor or not.
