Very nice album. Kinda reminds me a bit in its more upbeat moments of the criminally under appreciated band Lewis, who were once on Deep Elm's roster.

 

Yo, is this singer from another previous band? The vocals in the chorus of "bored of Black" are a fucking dead ringer for someone else but I can't place it.

Also, this record is cool, will maybe throw some thoughts together later.

 

he is not. he does some solo sets here and there in baltimore and he's good friends with the teen suicide/college park bands crew but no other bands he's led

does remind me of my old friend's band though. who was actually produced by us & us only's drummer, haha

i saw them again yesterday, an hour long set at an outdoor citywide arts festival, always funny seeing these bands play in front of crowds like this and know it's kind of a joke lol

 

Is this what slowcore is? I may like slowcore if that's the case

 

ehhhh there's some slowcore influence? i'm trying to think of something that's come out recently that has more of a slowcore influence than this one

codeine, low, red house painters (even though i can't stand mark kozelek) are the big influential slowcore bands. you should also definitely check out the carissa's wierd record

 

Fog Lake seems to be the it slowcore influenced record around these parts of the www

also, Mark pre-crazy SKM is a very different artist than what he is now - don't shrug RHP because of his present persona

i wasn't saying there's no influence on here but i don't know if liking this means you'll definitely like slowcore.

hovvdy, clique, peaer, and wild pink all came to mind as good examples of modern slowcore influenced bands. funny to then see all were mentioned in that review of this. would also throw horse jumper of love in there.

 

oh shit yeah horse jumper is the big one that i've used that as a comparison to earlier this year. totally spaced.
lots of good bands here! the new en route ep (members of sorority noise, clique, and soul glo) also fits this realm super super well
