Never heard of gecs until now, and maybe I’m just old and miserable, but I genuinely don’t understand how anyone could enjoy that song up there

 

Smh gecs and brokencyde are obviously not the same band but outright denying any similarity just cause you like one more feels like the bad faith argument to me :/

But yeah conversation’s been beaten into the ground I’m good to drop it

 

wow look a very nice palatable acoustic cover of a 100 gecs song, it’s almost as if the core of their music is catchy and high quality songwriting and comparing them to Brokencyde is way off base or something

 

sorry for going to bat for 100 gecs, who have gotten basically universal respect and praise from the pop music world, when you put them next to *one of the literal worst bands in the history of music*, I guess

I can tell you it’s a really irritating song.

I think listening to that actually strengthens my belief that they’re a joke band. It sounds like it’s been made to sound bad on purpose.

 

It's fine but would be better with clean vocals

this whole thing is so funny to me, because I never even said I don't like them, just simply that I'd like 'em better without the vocal effects. It sure did spur a whole convo though huh!

 

I skimmed through some 100 gecs and it sounds like the Chipmunks. They can’t be serious. I say this as someone that likes autotune just fine.

 

I mean they're definitely in on the joke as in they don't take themselves seriously at all but I wouldn't call them a "joke band" by any means

I find them to be genuinely forward-thinking pop music that I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see cited as influences for pop in the future

 

This doesn’t mean anything though does it.

Which isn’t a statement against pop btw.

 

This is pure and unfair speculation but they sound like people that started off trying to make fun of autotune

 

T-Pain, Justin Vernon and Cher are the only people allowed to use autotune.

 

I don't know if that makes it better or worse tbh

I’d like to add that I’m totally down with the gecs! Didn’t like it as much on my first listen but when you learn the melodies it’s fun as fuuuuck
