It's just not interesting at all, and it feels extra pandering because now I'm supposed to be in awe of Bradley Cooper's songwriting when its the mediocre work of a pre-approved celebrity

Gaga's vocals are spot on but that's to be expected

More of a question but are Boards of Canada one of the most influential musicians ever at this point? The amount of artists inspired by their sound is pretty staggering.

Tetris Effect, SH2, Doom(2016) and Katamari Damacy OSTs are four of the best albums of the past 20 years, come at me

They’re huge in that genre but I doubt anyone who doesn’t know that section of music has ever heard of them.

So, I saw Burna Boy on a whole load of best of lists this year and thought I’d check him out... bland isn’t the word. He makes the saxophone sound boring. Afrobeats? Nah. I’ll stick to Fela Kuti and proper Afrobeat.

Same with Rosalia. Liked her feature on the James Blake album so I thought I’d listen to some of her stuff and... There’s nothing interesting about her. I’ve never liked much Spanish/Latin inspired music anyway, so I wasn’t expecting to like it. But I thought I’d give her a try considering what people were saying and the Blake collab. But it was just dull. Nice voice. But dull.

Any the wave stuff, yeah, which is a lot of music, but also psychedelic and nostalgic-sounding production as a whole, some of it iconic (tracks from Mac Plus, Washed Out, Radiohead, Deadmau5, Solange and Chromatics coming to mind). They really coined a sound and it seems to have resonated with many artists, even if they and lots of the bands who specialize in it or a similar sound aren't super popular. At least this seems to be the case, just something I was wondering about the other day.
