Yeah it's fine haha responses are definitely just discussion not saying it isn't valid to feel that way for yourself

If it's once I've got it.

I forget that I’m a stranger to you all, so you don’t know how much of a hypocrite I am for posting that.

My username is in reference to vinyl toys/pop art and not records, so I am also a big fan of collecting weird stuff and letting people have fun with it.

The comparison to baseball cards is the only thing that really is bewildering to me about that post. They are such completely different things. If anything something like a pop figure would be a closer comparison, but even that is a reach.

Context: Last week I sold 3 12” and 3 7” records to a local shop for $30, and yesterday I sold 88 CDs to decluttr for $27. The issue with vinyl’s value is finding a buyer. Nobody wants the first bayside or an obscure screamo band’s record anymore lol

Genuine q - what is it about vinyl that make them more valuable or desirable for collectors than CDs / cassettes? Like there’s probably never gonna be CD heads

Sound quality (for some) and big art (for others)

I'm in the latter group but I also don't buy much

I don't know. Volume is probably a part of it.

I still want to contribute by buying a band’s physical album, and I feel like vinyl is more worth the money for me than CDs. I still have a big CD collection but haven’t played one in years.

Also vinyl looks way cooler on Instagram than CDs

My car only has a CD player and that’s where I listen to most of my music, so I still buy and use CDs. I probably wouldn’t if that wasn’t the case though.

That makes sense. My car has a USB, so I pretty much stopped buying CDs in 2013, otherwise I still probably would now.

I kind of hate collecting anything. It's just stuff and clutter to me. Get it all away from me.

I finally made a Discogs account yesterday to catalog my collection and the estimated value feature was quite eye opening haha. I like to think I’m relatively responsible with it though. If it’s a pre-order or something of a band I love I’ll get the variant that looks coolest but I don’t really care about rarity or pressings or anything. I bought/was gifted a ton of CDs throughout middle school and high school so this is kind of a continuation of that. The max I’ll spend on a record is like $30 unless it’s a set or something.

Nick Lachey’s second solo album is underrated and he deserved a better career

It’s great. There’s more like it on the album.

It seemed like he wasn't content just being a touring singer. He hopped on the reality-show-host train hoping to stay a celebrity instead,

I’m the same way. I get obsessive with collecting and need to have everything, so I try to avoid it altogether.

A good example of this is, a while back I decided I was going to collect a casino chip from every casino in Vegas that I visited (since I’ve been going every year for the last decade). I started my collection, and then I started thinking about how I missed getting a chip from casinos I visited years ago that no longer exist or have been torn down, and I couldn’t stand the idea of my collection not being complete. A friend told me to just grab those ones on eBay; but then I couldn’t help but think how it wouldn’t be authentic since I didn’t personally collect those chips myself.

Yes, I am crazy, and that’s a big reason why I avoid collecting anything nowadays lol

Yeah but Jive shelved his third album for years and then dropped him, so it’s not like he chose that life over music

To go along with Nick Lachey, JC Chasez should have had a better solo run.
