Most iconic tapping riff of my generation: lip gloss and black by atreyu

 

It’s so many bands too. I honestly can’t tell you the last time I heard a tapp-y riff that sounded fresh. Like, yeah in a way it’s impressive, I’ve never personally been great at it but I haven’t tried all that much, but it tends to be a key example of bands falling back on cool tricks over actually writing decent, captivating songs.

 

It's done pretty often in metal but it's usually interesting in that genre since it's most common in solos, usually. It's the same riffs that have been done over and over in emo though

 

Tapping is fine with metal or technical based music

 

Yeah, that kinda tapping is almost a different beast to me. I mean, I even tap in a song on our last album but it’s not like TMP style tapping.

 

Most emo tapping riffs are just worse versions of riffs TTNG already wrote

I love tapping and don’t really get tired of it, as long as it’s actually catchy and not just random notes all over the place

 

TMP is like if blink was even worse, but dummy's respect them bc their schtick on guitar makes them sound more talented than they really are

I don’t get any kind of resemblance between Blink and TMP

 

theyre like blink in that they're massively overrated. TMP is every modern emo cliche tossed into a blender with a very watered down derivative outcome
