That phase in horror has largely passed. A lot of horror right now is more 80s influenced, slow burn, or just more artistic than shocking Someone else will probably make a better argument
Yeah I mean outside of the zombie fanaticism going on in the last 10 or so years, most horror movies I've noticed have leaned more towards psychological horror films and ghost/paranormal stories. Early to mid 2000's for horror was the worst imo. Remember movies like feardotcom and that one about the tooth fairy that hid in the dark? Even as a teenager I hated that shit haha
I hate the trailers for those horror movies where it's like blood pouring out of eyes and other creepy shit, I ain't seeing your movie let me sleep
I'm more subtle when it comes to horror I guess. That's why I like stuff like The Shining and Michael Myers so much. Mike wasn't scary cus of his kills, it was more like his stalking and stuff lol. Eerieness may be my wheelhouse from atmosphere to style and I'm just learning to accept it now. lol I'm also terrible at keeping up with movies. I sink all my free hobby time into music, I sold my soul already. I'm not the most informed I suppose. lol
In high school I watched every comedy I could get my hands on during that wave of dumb teen comedies that included Eurotrip and The New Guy. Now I veer more toward horror and drama and i rarely get excited for a comedy unless there's a lot of buzz around it
Corny early mid 00s horror is my forte. darkness falls is a masterpiece and I think it's creepy that the actor died of sleep apnea since he never wanted to sleep in the movie!!
The Others is fine, but let's not forget that 2001 also gave us Jeepers Creepers, Ghosts of Mars, The Mummy Returns, and Thir13en Ghosts. Not saying there weren't a few good horror films in those years, but by and large the genre was very bad imo
I don't get why so many comedy movies are just shit like it's def. my favorite genre but like I probably end up seeing so few
Are we gonna front like thirteen ghosts and jeepers creepers arent quality?! are we?! Edit: or are those supposed to be examples of good ones? idk the mummy sequel being in there is really throwing me for a loop here!
I like jeepers creepers and it being by Salva totally ruins it. it's gross they're trying to make a 3rd
