I’m fairly aware of what’s going on in the fashion world and understand that it’s all about freedom of expression rather than functionality or what looks “good” necessarily. I myself have some avant garde items of clothing that don’t look nice by most people’s standard, nor are they the most practical things to wear, I just love how they look on me. With that said, I really don’t like Yeezy Boosts lol
Sneakerhead culture is just something I'll never understand and why they're so expensive not just Yeezys, like I'd feel bad spending $200 on a suit which I would know is necessary let alone fucking sneakers
I mean they're so expensive because that is what people are willing to pay, especially for low quantity items. The question why people are willing to pay so much is another matter lmao. Then again, if sneakers would all be made under proper conditions by people that are being paid proper salaries, they'd probably all be that price. Not that most expensive sneakers by mainstream sneaker brands are being made that way, they're just expensive because they can be (because people pay for it and because in some cases higher prices lead to higher demand).
Plus continually hyping up sneakerheads with limited quantity releases and special collaborations is also a marketing strategy (one that happens to make some money too), the end goal being to increase mindshare among regular users so that they walk into a Foot Locker and buy your regular ass shoes instead of those of your competitor
I guess I've never found Kanye's fashion stuff that creative or interesting. I am not knowledgeable at all about sneakers but as someone who has like 1000 similar but slightly different shades of lipstick I can't rly judge what anyone else chooses to buy lol
I’m ok with spending a lot of money on dress shoes/boots. I dont wear sneakers though so I’ll never be part of that world
I think the best part right now is we are in dad phase of Kanye so every picture we see of him is cozy Kanye. That's the real fashion I can get behind. Cozy life forever.
I dunno I considered that I can’t differentiate between them but I just googled both and I feel like I see kids with the black ones with red numbers and stuff on them constantly. Other colors too, I see the tire tread or whatever sole all the time.
I think I've maybe seen like two people actually wearing real yeezys because damn they are rare where I'm from.
some high school kid at my church was wearing a brand called Bathing The Ape this morning, so that's a thing I guess
BAPE and Supreme are basically the two biggest heavy hitters of streetwear. I was first introduced to BAPE thanks to Pharrell.
I never knew what the hell that line meant in Crank That until now. I’ve been waiting 11 long years for this moment. And what a moment it was.
In what world does on have to live to not have the BAPE monkey branded onto one's brain? I'm impressed.
I don't have any vested interest in fashion whatsoever so what high schoolers are wearing isn't really up there in terms of things I pay attention to
Well yeah it's 2018 and streetwear is drowning in high school hypebeasts and it's lame but BAPE was huge even when it meant something. It wasn't just fashion either, they licensed the fuck out of that monkey.
Today I Goddamn Learned Honestly the 3-5 high school kids in my church's youth group are like the only frame of reference I have for what is in these days lol so I'm incredibly ignorant about all of it
this whole hypebeast nonsense is something that completely passed me by don't try to be out here flexin on me
I have no idea what this BAPE or monkey image / mascot business is. Never seen it or heard of it till this thread, just now. Gonna keep it that way too.
