Gravity is unfairly maligned.

 

I still need to watch that.

 

Loved it in the theater. Haven’t though about it since.

 

It was a solid 6/10

 

It obviously doesn't stand with his major films, but it has a lot more heart than the vast majority of big-budget movies like it.

 

don't see gravity having a fraction of the impact in my living room

 

I wish there was an IMAX house that played it all the time since it almost requires the theatrical experience.

 

I thought Gravity was brilliant in theaters, and solid on rewatch at home

 

11 years after, Avatar does not hold up. Who cosplays it? Who is looking forward to the planned sequels?

Decades-long comedy sequels do not work... Anchorman 2, Dumb & Dumber Too, Super Troopers 2? Not Funny. Avatar 2 will not be funny either.

 

All these years later and the only thing I remember about gravity is "murphhhhhh"

Wet Hot American Summer miniseries reunion killed it

 

Fury Road is great too, even though it's not really a sequel. But generally, yeah they don't work.

Comedies are so much about time and place that it is really hard to recapture that magic.

 

Yeah, if they don’t do a sequel within three to four years of the original, they shouldn’t even bother. Dumb and Dumber To just turned Harry and Lloyd into old creeps, which I guess is on brand for the Farrellys.

 

Even comedy sequels that only come out a couple years after the first one are rarely nearly as good as the first. The only one I can think of that's on the same level or even arguably better than the first is 22 Jump Street

 

yeah there's like 5 good comedy sequels ever

 

Waynes World, Hot Shots, Naked Gun series come to mind
