There are some great episodes in the last few seasons, but yeah the show isn't as consistent as it used to be. Still.... Charlie Work is probably the best all around episode of the series.
ok so I've seen up through season 9 and I still think they're putting out great eps. Mac Day is maybe one of my favorite episodes of anything
This is hard, but if we are listing favorite eps.... -When they do community service and have that basketball game with the kids -The 2 parter highschool reunion where you learn Mac's name is Ronald McDonald -The Christmas Special -When they go to a counselor to see who will wash the dishes I'm sure I'm missing a ton of great ones.
I'd say the only episodes I'd put up with my favorites past season five are the boat, Thundergun, and the Cereal Defense. South Park hasn't been funny. There are funny bits, lines, storylines, even some episodes, but as a whole I just don't care for it.
Speaking of South Park and Always Sunny in hindsight the way they portrayed trans women with Mrs Garrison and Carmen was super problematic
south park, simpsons, and family guy all still deliver. i KNOW that's an unpopular opinion to have (south park still delivers the most too)
I thought Southpark was always praised for making characters of disability, color, sexual orientation, ect accepted by the other characters. I remember reading that disabled people loved that Timmy and Jimmy were just "one of the kids" with the other characters who never really made a deal about. Same with Big Gay Al, ect. I dunno though, the show aims to push limits and such so I can see why it offends people. As for Mr. Garrison..... his character has always been waaayyy over the top. I know he did his sex change later in the series, but I wouldn't think how crazy he acted about it was bad because he was over the top before that.
Family Guy can't still deliver because it never really delivered in the first place. It's very hard for me to criticize the show without directly insulting its fanbase haha. Futurama however is fantastic. I'll take that show over the Simpsons any day. The thing with Fry's brother is probably a top five tearing up moment for me in TV.
Or the episode with Fry's dog! Family Guy is good for just laughs, but it's not the full package of story, characters and meaning like South Park or anything like that. Sometimes a show can be just for entraining jokes and not be anything more.
I continuously say this, but 0 other animated shows even come close to touching the Golden Age Simpsons episode. Just completely on another level that few shows, animated or sitcom or even dramas, come close to achieving. South Park was much better when the stories were smaller/stakes were lower/there was less focus on current event topics. I'd argue that how quickly the episodes are produced negatively affects the quality.
Fry's dog gets edged out by his brother purely because the latter was an original story while the dog story is an adaptation, though it is one of the better adaptations.
Sooo many good characters, hard for me to which is best. Maybe Professor for me because he made me laugh most consistently.... but I think his character of an old kooky scientist set him up easily to say crazy things.
