I think Will Smith and Steve Carell’s career track pretty similarly, in the case of both making their names on popular sitcoms heh showing their acting chops off in small dramas and then really trying to get validated as dramatic actors in movies that are often super Oscar bait-y. I feel like both have shown they have enough talent to carry a drama, but have picked some bad ones to star in.
Six Degrees Of Separation! And I think coasting by on charm isn't necessarily a bad thing,I mean I love watching Pursuit of Happyness even if it isn't good per se haha
Ali is fine. It’s an average biopic that I think was big at the time because it was Will Smith in his first big dramatic role. I wouldn’t say it’s better than MIB. That movie was so imaginative and tight. It laid out that world so well. I think if it wasn’t diluted by the sequels, it’d be in higher standing like the first “Ghostbusters.”
Well I was gonna do Four Our of Five by Arctic Monkeys, didn’t have it. So In Love by Orchestral Manouvers In the Dark, didn’t have it. So I’ve settled on Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now by The Smiths
I remember so little of his late 90s/early 00s work even though I saw basically everything he did. MIB, MIB2, Seven Pounds, Hitch, Hancock, Ali, Bad Boys, Bad Boys 2, the Pursuit of Happyness, I Robot, I Am Legend, I know I saw all of those and I remember basically nothing about any of them. Not that I’d have rewatched any of them since first viewing.
I Robot has some great scenes in it, and overall a pretty good movie. I'm pretty excited for the new Bad Boys, even though Michael Bay isn't doing it.
I'd say no matter what you think of the DC movies, casting all around has been fantastic. The talent they have pulled in has been incredible.
