Turkey is just dried-out chicken and I know that people are going to come from the rafters to tell me how their grandma cooked it a certain way that made it delicious but you can just get Publix chicken that would be better.
Turkey is fine. It’s not what I look forward to on Thanksgiving, but when those pieces of turkey are mixed in with stuffing, mashed potatoes, and gravy into a plate of hot mush, that’s good shit.
Leftovers on a sandwich is the best, but my wife's family also makes turkey noodle soup with it, which is really good too.
Totally agree I would rather have a cooked whole chicken than a whole turkey. Turkey is truly the most boring meat, and gravy is such a Thanksgiving staple because it's necessary to mask it Also not big on stuffing, hate cranberry sauce. Pretty much just get excited for mashed potatoes, gravy, and sometimes corn bread if it's present. Peas and corn are good, but nothing I get excited for.
Putting economics aside, I'm at a Thanksgiving work lunch and there are three different meats here, none of which are turkey. Do you not have that sort of thing?
Not a huge ham fan, we have prime rib on Christmas. Turkey is good, just tell the person making it to not make it suck.
