Between the surge in gambling and all the crypto push it feels like entire swaths of people are realizing there is really no way to get ahead in America other than shooting for a miracle and if you lose you are just as poor as you would have been anyway.
the money came from tech and got added in there and the second the leagues saw it there was no chance it was going to go away. all of the tv shows and networks incorporating their bets into their coverage of games seems so obviously acting in their own self-interests that it shouldn't be allowed.
I wonder how long until they incorporate gambling into shows. Bet on whether or not Hank is going to arrest Walter or if Tony is going to forgive Paulie or not.
After watching The Brutalist and walking back into the shopping centre I felt disgusted with how ugly and ad covered our public spaces have become. Advertising is businesses doing graffiti and paying to get away with it. Actual graffiti is a crime because poor people arnt allowed to have a say in what their community looks like.
A lot of Americans believe that alcohol Prohibition didn't work or even that drinking increased. Stuff being illegal automatically drives a lot of people away. Having to go to Las Vegas or Atlantic City or to bet on some sketchy site with a bunch of Eastern European looking letters is going to keep people away.
Prohibition in media is always portrayed as super fun. Secret bars, smuggle runs, home brewing, bribing police to look the other way, everyone working together and having a great time.
Lol that's what inspired this post. She's doing great but she's still Penny to me. Plus she also kinda sucked in Midnight Mass Obv she's a great actress to leave this much of an impression and she's just doing her job but IDC I'm gonna be unreasonable!!
I got in a big argument at the bar tonight with my friends over this: are the Ninja Turtles brothers? Not like the dead spirits or whatever other canon there is. Not like bonded brothers with Splinter being their adoptive dad or whatever. Are the turtles biological brothers? Everyone got mad at me for even asking
I don't remember them having an origin story other than Splinter found them? Also is Splinter a mutant? Edit: Wikipedia answered all my questions. I hope google is banned for your bar arguments
I think it depends on the version? Don’t think they usually specify. But, I’d lean towards thinking they probably are in versions where they’re the same kinda turtle (I think sometimes they’re each a different kind). I also lean towards it not mattering, though, lol. Adopted brothers are still as “real” as biological ones.
Would be quite the coincidence to have their names be related like they are, if not named by the same parents
To be fair, you don’t have to be biologically related to be named by the same parent (or in this case, owner), lol. Actually, now I’m struggling to remember if most versions have the turtles already have the name before being oozed, or if Splinter names ‘em.
One of my friends made a joke and said “actually his brother is the one with the sticks” and it made me question if they are brothers
