have mixed feelings about Reitman's movies/nepotism still need to see Jennifer's Body, planning on seeing it at some point this month
Spider-Man 3 was a good movie! The best of the original trilogy This is definitely going against popular opinion!
Spider-Man 3 has a combination of studio interference and an attempt at a comedic/campy tone that a lot of people misread and take at face value or just aren't into. It's not a good movie but it has some phenomenal moments.
He has gotten by on the reputation of two movies for years. Saying Ridley Scott made a movie today is not that different from any other anonymous director.
I don't even know if he realizes what made those two movies great (in most people's eyes. I don't actually like Blade Runner)
With Alien, his attempts at creating a larger mythology with the prequels says he might not understand it. Like Jaws, it is simply a perfectly executed genre film; his attempts at making it a story about the Important Questions has been a failure.
I think Ridley is a good visual artist and has the ability to make his world’s feel lived in and real. With that said, he’s really not that great, he’s just lucky that his films that were happened so early in his career. I feel the same way about the Wichowskis. The Matrix hasn’t aged perfectly, but I still think it’s a great action/sci-fi movie and it was obviously incredibly influential in that genre. They have been riding on the Matrix’s success for the rest of their career.
I was always partial to Letterman, but Conan would be the one to watch now. I appreciate Kimmel's career evolution as well.
