I actually don't rewatch those shows. I'm just saying it is fine to retrospectively discuss them critically as adults.
When they put the original Power Rangers on Netflix a friend of mine was so excited to watch them but that stuff is unwatchable as an adult.
imagine how mad people would be if Hey Arnold came out today with black, Jewish, and Asian American characters
Yeah like what you like I just personally am not spending any time thinking about stuff I watched when I was 8 other than the occasional thought of “remember when Ed Edd & Eddy stole Jimmy’s outline?”
It was even worse when Doug moved from Nick to Disney. My favorite Nicktoon was always Rocko's Modern Life just because of how weird it was. It took me way too long to realize how much Spongebob later ripped from it. I know Rocko's was legit good because it was one of only two shows on Nick my dad liked watching when I had it on too ( the other being Pete & Pete )
The same three characters that fit these demographics but they’re all swapped, just to really fuck with people
Guys, did you know it is forbidden to discuss things you enjoyed as a child? Listen, I even said these shows probably haven't aged well, but some of y'all are sourpusses.
The original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers actually ruled when I last revisited some episodes. Obviously my relationship to the material has changed as an adult, but there’s still a specific kitschy, theatrical approach that speaks to me. I’d put it in a space between, like… silver age superhero comics, sci-fi b-movies, etc.
I also never like Catdog. Even as a kid I was like "there are too many uncomfortable implications to this premise that I don't want to think about" Also this guy was supposed to be a mouse. That looks nothing like a goddamn mouse come on now
