Yeah, AMC is the worst when it comes to ads and trailers. Our local indie theater is 10 minutes of those at most. But they also don’t have IMAX or Dolby.
Mine is pretty set at 30 mins for ads and trailers. I always show up 25 mins late and usually have a single trailer to watch.
I really miss dollar movie theaters. Not just the obvious cost savings, but the vaguely rundown nature and overall poor quality all around.
Was actually also going to complain in the Furiosa thread about the trailers but forgot. Absolutely ridiculous. Like 5 trailers then a fucking Navy or Army ad. Then a Coke/Popcorn ad. Then a long XD prom. XD you’re selling me on something I was currently sitting down for already.
I see less “commercials” at AMC I feel vs the one time I went to a regal in the last 6 years (for Godzilla minus one)
Checked my phone at our 4:00pm Furiosa showing at it was 4:33 when the Nicole Kidman ad came on I was like jfc. So many bad trailers too. Deadpool looks like shit from a butt.
The longer period of ads/trailers plus movies getting longer and longer makes going to the theater a chore. I thought about seeing Furiosa today but the whole journey would have taken over three hours.
I hate how popular media shows airplanes as having more seat room than they rly do. Unless this working class character is absolutely sandwiched in the middle of 2 strangers, I won't stand for it.
Almost no movie theaters have you buy tickets from actual cashiers anymore but I miss the silent judgment of the movie you were picking. I went to see a movie called I've Loved You So Long on Valentine's Day and the guy started mocking me. It was funny because the movie isn't a romance but about a woman getting out of jail after mercy killing her child.
When I was a senior in high school we were going to see Brokeback Mountain and the cashier was the cutest girl in Spanish class so i went up to the counter and acted like I didn't really know what it was about and got her to laugh.
I think it'd be funny to go to some niche movie dressed up in super specific cosplay outfit and be like "1 ticket for fast and the furious installment 12384728" that has nothing to do with said cosplay outfit But I would never have the guts
As a ticket stub collector, I hate that they went from the card stock stubs to receipt paper. You also have to ask for them to print it out, so you get that old school judgment.
Phish used to give out Phish Tickets By Mail (PTBM) if you won them in their pre-onsale lottery but they haven't since Halloween 21, now you gotta pay extra for your "commemorative ticket." They're real pretty too
I would pay extra for commemorative tickets since so many have gone digital. The ticket prices go up and we have less to show for it. Give us our stubs back!
