I absolutely agree. Seinfeld deserves lots of credit considering the massive output and consistent quality. Also, they definitely pushed the boundaries of what could be done in 22 minutes and on network television. A truly remarkable show. Curb just makes me laugh harder.
Larry David's best work is definitely not Curb. Even if Curb is a better show, Seinfeld was definitely the harder show to make for its time and network.
It is quaint now, but things like the fake orgasm or masturbation episodes was groundbreaking stuff for a network sitcom. Also, almost every television comedy today today can trace its roots to Seinfeld. Curb Your Enthusiasm, as good as it is, is more of a self-contained thing.
The amount of episodes Seinfeld has is astounding when you considered that they're nearly all great. There's only one episode I don't like. The Bette Midler episode. Gross.
I guess I could agree on Seinfeld being a more important/influential/impressive show but looking at the two in a vacuum I prefer Curb. Both are up there with the best shows of all time for me though.
I love the Larry David interview when he's describing negotiating with the censor. There's definitely a lot people don't realize came from that show.
@Bloodsucker II I didnt know this thread existed. Yeah I like all of his other films, but Scott Pilgrim just tried too hard in my opinon
I'd probably go The World's End > Sean of the Dead > Scott Pilgrim > Hot Fuzz >>>> Baby Driver I haven't seen his first film
1. Hot Fuzz 2. The World's End 3. Shaun of the Dead 4. Baby Driver 5. Scott Pilgrim I have seen Hot Fuzz multiple times but none of the others more than once.
I think Baby Driver is his only film that I will probably never watch again, nor do I feel the need to suggest it to anyone I know. With his other movies, depending on the person, I can be like, "oh you'd totally like At Worlds End" or "you might like Scott Pilgrim," but I honestly don't find a lot redeemable in Baby Driver.
Been a while since I've seen Hot Fuzz and Scott Pilgrim, so I can't rank 'em all. The World's End is definitely my favorite of his, though.
Yeah surprised to see Worlds End ranked so high, my order would prob be: 1) Shaun of The Dead 2) Hot Fuzz 3) Scott Pilgrim 4) Worlds End I need to see Baby Driver more than once to properly rank it but at the moment I feel it would probably slot in at number 3 bumping the other 2 down.
yeah im definitely not on board with this Scott Pilgrim bashing. In fact I have Shaun and Pilgrim pretty far up over Hot Fuzz, Worlds end, and Baby Driver (baby being my least farvorite). i've only seen Hot Fuzz once...i gotta get on that, but yeah Shaun i've seen a trillion times and Scott Pilgrim is amazing.
It's definitely a different interpretation but I'm inclined to agree. To me, Mads in the definitive version of Hannibal
