I listened to a podcast recently where they determined what the best 90s sitcom is and this was the only one in the top 5 I had never heard of. It made it farther in their bracket than Seinfeld did though
I am watching through it for a third time. It is very similar to Seinfeld in tone, as the characters are all selfish and destructive, but it is also a great critique of celebrity.
Attack on Titan is pretty much garbage. It's essentially the Game of Thrones of anime. It has poor characters and relies solely on its shock value and cliff hanger endings in order to sustain its audience. 75% percent of the episodes consist of the main character telling us what is going on his head mid-battle. Don't tell me how a character feels or how the character is supposed to be, show me.
The fights being broken up with internal monologuing is a huge issue I have with most anime, incidentally. Also, the hyper-nationalist Imperialist Japanese themes make the show utterly irredeemable as well. Fuck the creator, too. He's an open anti-Semite and flaming racist and it really shows in his work.
I did not know this. Hmm. Yeah, I love anime, but some of its tropes are insufferable. Also, not sure if this matters, but I have only seen the first run of AOT. I have not watched series two and I probably won't.
I didn't hear about it until a couple of months ago either, yeah. If you're interested in hearing more, if you Google shit like "hajime isayama imperialist" you'll be able to find some decent analyses of this issue. Also, yeah, I've never touched season two either. I probably won't due to the bad taste in my mouth. And oh yeah. I adore some anime but I'm extremely picky with it, and most of the ones I enjoy are those that keep certain tropes to a minimum.
I think Seinfeld is probably the "better" show, but I prefer Curb. It's basically R-rated Seinfeld, which is perfection.
you should both rectify that situation. both shows are gold and fans of either is likely to love both
Curb Your Enthusiasm is too spotty to be better than Seinfeld. Seasons 2 and 3 are masterpieces but the other seasons sometimes get too outlandish.
Seinfeld does not get enough credit for its consistent greatness in an era where shows were expected to churn out 22-24 episodes a year. Seasons 3 to 7 are consistently amazing despite this demand, while modern shows, both comedies and dramas, have started making less episodes per year and taking years off if they want.
