Homemade ranch you get from a pizza shop is so much better than anything bottled you buy from the store.

Self checkouts shouldn't have a small number item limit, you should need to pass a technology test to prove that you can efficiently check out. Then you get a little card and you swipe it so that you can use the machine. If you fail, you go to the slow lanes.
Our self checkouts are not item limited. There should be a little discount system that rewards you for fast processing like time trials on racing games
A lot of that certain style of early 2000's era documentaries ( Like Michael Moore and Morgan Spurlock) don't hit as hard today, not because of their message, but because with that filmmaking style watching them with 2024 eyes they just feel like mediocre longform YouTube content, and not really like films. Like the " I eat nothing but McDonalds for 30 days challenge" is something a lower tier Mr. Beast imitator would do that would get 5 mili views and be forgotten about in a week, and that shit was all over Blockbusters and a major cultural moment in 2004 for months
Moore is a lot better than Spurlock. Almost every claim he made in Super Size Me was disproven. But yes, overall that style became really grating. Bill Maher did a documentary called Religulous that was in the same style. Ironically, a lot of FOX News shows tried to ape it too.

Yeah I remember for a long time Dinesh D'Souza tried to make his whole career as "the conservative Michael Moore" and kept making that style of doc years after they became passe well into the mid 2010's.
There are definitely documentaries that suffer from wanting to be video essays before the format had been established. They end up forcing narrative into what should have just been an argument and would have been stronger if it was presented as such.
YouTube video essays suffer even more because so many of them try to do the Mr. Plinkett style of having some absurd side-story to cut to in case they think people are getting bored.
the biggest weakness of YouTube video essays is that when an expert in a field starts a channel they have a well of opinions and knowledge to share and that often starts to run dry after a few years just as they have built up their video essays skills.
