I like Jack Black in High Fidelity, and School of Rock was important to me as a kid, but I find his usual schtick pretty grating. That said, I haven't actually seen any of his live action work since Be Kind Rewind. He's good as Bowser.
I wouldn't say he is funny, but I find him charismatic and entertaining. I think there is a difference. Like he doesn't make me laugh, but when he on screen I am like "oh this is fun".
Nacho libre is probably my most watched movie. We would have band prac, get drunk, go out, come back, wake up, watch Nacho.
New Girl is great. One of the best friend group sitcoms I think. The last season is a little weird, but I really hate time jumps.
Happy Endings was better written, at least. The amount of plot holes/continuity flaws New Girl has is really frustrating.
I’ve never gotten through the first season of Happy Endings. I always want to try for Adam Pally but it just never sticks
I loved new girl. Never seen happy endings. the first tenacious d album is one of the best rock albums of the 00s, and is hilarious on top of that. Not a huge fan of most of jack black’s stuff but that alone gets him a pass on being funny for me
I liked happy endings more than new girl but both are good. Wish we had gotten more than 3 seasons of happy endings. Also not to brag but I saw Adam Pally live and got to briefly talk to him and he was awesome.
Happy Endings is more consistently funny and goofy than New Girl. New Girl’s first couple seasons were pretty enjoyable but I stopped watching when it didn’t know what to do with Nick and Jess. Jack Black is great. My only problem with him is he’s kind of fallen back on being the same character now. I feel like he was doing a range of comedies and dramas a decade ago. He was great in “Bernie”!
The funny thing about New Girl is that the star of it is the most annoying character on the show. Winston in his prime is absolutely the funniest character on the show.
