ok but some of that stuff was just objectively bad. I remember one scene where Littlefinger is explaining something to someone while two girls go at it and he stops in the middle of his speech to say 'play with her ass' and then goes back to talking lol
The sex scenes in Oppenheimer are integral to the movie and what it’s doing/saying. Like…not even on that deep a level, or so I thought.
To be fair he’s supposedly training her to be a better whore since she’s new to Kings Landing! But yeah that scene was like the epitome of the ‘sexposition’ scenes they had a lot of in season 1. I feel like it got a little better after that…Theon on the boat in season 2 with the captains daughter or whatever stands out as another obvious bad one. I don’t remember others after that. There were definitely some r*** scenes after battles and shit that could be debated as unnecessary vs. ‘the reality of that world’ past season 2 though. If we’re talking Season 4 I’m assuming it’s Craster’s Keep/mutineers scene that sparked this discussion lol. But im also definitely forgetting sex scenes the show had for sure.
They made us watch clips of The Big Bang Theory today and it is even worse than I thought it was. Fans of the show should not be trusted to make other recommendations.
it wasn't enough that TBBT made the worst jokes over the the most overactive laugh track, they had their "standout" character show traits of ASD played for comedy for over a fucking decade. they better not make any more spinoffs
The cartoonish amount of gratuitous sex scenes is a big part of what makes Game of Thrones s1-2 worse than the much more toned-down 3-4
It’s a jarring scene, I didn’t expect it, but when I saw the film again it’s centrally connected thematically and narratively to everything else in real ways. Connecting love and death and his responsibility for the consequences of his decisions and moral failings etc, establishing a further connection to global culture and history, culminating in the interrogation flashback where he feels vulnerable and exposed and guilty, manifested cinematically by the visual callback to the scene. Oppenheimer is good. It’s an intelligently made movie with lots going on and lots to say. Nolan transcended himself in a way I wasn’t sure I’d feel from him.
Yea Oppy passed the “throw on and rewatch at any time at home” test with flying colors. It’s obviously Nolan’s best film
Souls you constantly spew such bullshit that no one knows when you’re “joking” or not so don’t get shitty with anyone else
