I can't believe I forgot to mention Scrubs. Fantastic show. Dr. Cox was so well-written and acted. JD and Turk are iconic.
I know people who became doctors because of Scrubs, how many people do you know became stand up comedians because of Sienf...oh fuck this analogy doesn't work.
You know what sitcom couple was really toxic? Jim and Cheryl from According To Jim. That show was so bad. My family watched it religiously when I was little.
Where do My Wife And Kids, Grounded For Life and Everybody Hates Chris fit in all this. From my non American perspective it's interesting to think about the sitcoms that crossed over to my country and those that didn't. I had never heard of Seinfeld, Frasier, The Office and a few others until I joined ap.net. The one I watched the most and seemed to be the most popular over here in the 00s, Friends aside, was Malcolm In The Middle.
Yeah Seinfeld just isn't a thing here sadly. I was very happy to binge all of that and Curb in college though.
That's wild, dubbed Seinfeld was huge in Germany (or German speaking countries). I personally hated it though lol
My movie and television views are 99 percent in line with common critical consensus. Didn't you try to compare me to the conformity of the Ken's? It can't be both.
I looked it up and it was only aired on a premium channel over here. You had to pay or subscribe to some kind of plan to watch some of its programming unencrypted, which my parents didn't. It explains why I missed out on that show and The Office, which also used to air on it. Were the dubbed shows in Germany also always one season late? I remember it being a big reason I started seeing folks over here get into piracy back then.
Fresh Prince is GOATed but like many shows of its time, it started to get really stupid in the last season lol I also never got into Seinfeld. Love Curb though!
I'm not going to fault most shows for their poor last seasons unless they're absolutely terrible like Weeds, HIMYM, That 70's Show, Game Of Thrones, etc.
Carlton got accepted into Princeton and then had a mental breakdown and decided to become a professional bowler. IIRC I think they just completely erased Lisa and that whole arc from existence after spending most of season 5 doing some frankly silly stuff with their relationship haha
On the note of returning to favs, now that fall has hit, I should make some time for a lil Gilmore Girls.
Now if I had a therapist that was like "I decided to get get into this field because I loved Frasier so much" I would probably never see that person again tvh. TNG, DS9, and VOY are the perfect "just put on whenever" shows for me.
I don’t wear a sweater over my flannel, but it’s roughly 75% accurate, yes. I’m very much so a “pumpkin spice & Jesus Christ” kinda bitch.
I was shocked when I learned that Randy from That 70s Show is Seth Meyers brother. Although now I cannot unsee the family resemblance
