I keep a tab on pop culture at least for the kids/youth I work with and tend to know just enough for them to think im cool which works well because I get all my validation from the kids I work with which isn't healthy but it's my life
Rewatching the Watchmen movie again - probably the most faithful comic book adaptation ever made aside from the lack of giant squid
I just keep up with the parts of culture I like. Dont watch tictoc or television, will check out new music and films. Yeet was the best new word
I like how the Watchmen movie looks but I don't think Snyder got the themes right at all. The comic is about sad horrible people that need to dress up like superheroes because they have nothing else but the movie takes any chance it can to indulge in how cool the violent acts they are committing look
The core problem with Watchmen is that it’s a comic book about superheroes as a genre and comics as an artistic medium. The mystery plot is the framework the story is built on, but it isn’t itself “the story” of Watchmen. I’ve grown to sporadically love some of Snyder’s shamelessly maximalist genre filmmaking, to the point of going full circle and appreciating Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - Ultimate Edition. But, one of the various things he’s not good at is subtlety, lol. So, him doing Watchmen is like someone trying to draw a picture with very fine details using one of those super thick and blocky mega-Sharpies or whatever.
I don't know if it's been reclaimed as a cult classic yet but I just watched Dirty Grandpa for the first time last night and it's a very funny movie
Dirty Grandpa is good. I remember someone on this forum got so mad about someone saying something good about it even though he had not seen it and his interpretation of the movie was way off.
Just remember: If De Niro is the one on screen, Dirty is the Grandpa you've seen. But if Knoxville is the starring lad, that Grandpa, my friend, is Bad.
lmao goddamn, this never even occurred to be but is super helpful. This is the shit that should be in school text books!
Last christmas Mum got it in her head she wanted to watch Bad Santa, we told her no she would not have a good time but she could not be conviced.
true, she had a broken rib at the time because the week before she had seen a distracting elf in the car park and fallen over
