It's not that great in the beginning when it's more like a typical sitcom, and season 4 is bad because Harmon got fired, but it's otherwise a great show. It really shines when it starts paying homage to other TV and movies. And I have a soft spot for the darker humor in S5 and S6.
Sitcoms are just trash. You get a week to write an episode. The best you can hope for is a few seasons of timely jokes before it runs out of steam. But oh no youve spent so much time together that your human brain made a connection to made up characters and now you love them and will defend them forever.
Loved Everybody Loves Raymond and King of Queens. Yes Dear wasn't bad either because of Mike O'Malley
Seinfeld and The Simpsons are the obvious classics. King of the Hill is very special, and most of 30 Rock is very good.
