It’s not Parks’s fault, but the show’s Obama-era neoliberal fantasyland vision of politics has also aged poorly.
This is why I couldn't make it through more than a few episodes of The West Wing. It is Clinton instead of Obama, but it has that same sort of misplaced belief in the system.
I love Parks to death, but this is the most damning argument I’ve ever heard against it for sure. It’s fine because the jokes are there and characters are great, but this is a part of the show that has only become more distracting with the progression of real world politics
30 Rock is probably the most inconsistent of any of these shows for me. Loved a lot of it but it also had a lot of stuff that didn't work for me at all. It's probably been over a decade since I've watched it though.
God, I'm old. A decade goes by so quickly. There's a new Frasier show coming out and the last one ended in 2004.
Though that might be my opinion because it somehow combines a weirdly hight amount of things I like thematically. Like, if you the like the entertainment business, Hip Hop, divas, (The) Tracy Morgan (Show), LRG and went to business school, then this show is tailor made for you.
I loved the two of them together and are pissed they stayed broken up for so long The final season was a little weak, but still has it's moments. Plus Ruth was hilarious.
Parks is the best of those shows comfortably. God forbid a comedy TV show be aspirational rather than punishingly realistic. Clearly they should have had Amy Poehler trying to do The Wire.
