that's a discussion; if you go to the movies a lot, snacks/drinks or no snacks/drinks? I'm team no snacks.
I usually don't eat between meals so no snacks for me. Drinks is obligatory considering there's a strong chance I start passing out without one. Something about the cinema setting tends to put me to sleep fast.
I get to the movies, I sit my fat ass down and I start CHOWING on my popcorn and peanut M&M's and wash it down with sips from an obscenely large barrel of full calorie, full sugar fountain cola like I'm still fucking 12 years old and have a functioning metabolism and it is glorious. The only part that sucks is that I always have to pee like three times during the movie, but there just is no way to possibly avoid that by changing my behavior in any way.
I never got concession food, usually I’d smuggle in a bottle of water, which was easier with a coat in the winter months.
Before the theater I go to started selling beer sometimes I’d sneak in 1 or 2 when I’d go to late showings. One time I snuck 2 in and was in the theater by myself. 10 minutes into the movie a cop walks in and sits 1 row in front of me and watches the entire movie. Never was able to open that second beer.
I sat through a showing of the extend cut of Return of The King and sat through all four hours of it without getting up once to go to the restroom. One of the hardest things I’ve ever done
Nah, but I’d be lying if I said the fear of it happening wasn’t there. So many people booked it to the bathroom when it was over too lol.
Intermission when I saw that 2001: A Space Odyssey rerelease was delightful. Would love if they became a thing again. Maybe modern audiences are too impatient for them, though Marvel’s trained nerds to sit through the credits, so I dunno.
also imagine an intermission after 25 minutes of trailers, you're in the theater for life you will die there
People walking in and out of a theater during a movie don't typically bother me, tbh. Obviously it's more annoying if they have to pass me in my row, especially in more traditional theater seating, or if they're inappropriately and/or persistently loud, but for the most part I can bounce off that movement and back into the movie pretty smoothly.
I think an intermission is cool not just to get to pee (though I appreciate that, too!), but also as a narrative device. Even though I already knew where 2001 was going, the placement of that pause was so satisfying. Love me a good chapter break. Though, I also think sitting in a theater for at least part of a movie's closing credits (not for the sake of a credits scene, lol) is an underrated experience.
I wish movies at the theaters had subtitles. Hate not being able to catch all the dialogue. I don't even have hearing issues, I just don't always catch it all
