i remember a while ago grohl gave an interview or two where he was being a macho douche gatekeeping about rock music and pop music, he was saying classic things like “thats not real music”, but it seems he realized more recently that he was being a total fool and changed his tune

 

I feel like its cuz he knows his audience is a bunch of "RoCk Is ThE oNlY rEaL mUsIC" types who lap that shit up.

 

He’s a bit of a boomer, but also admits his daughter has turned him on to a bunch of stuff like Billie Eilish. I don’t think him being a nice guy is a front. It’s just that he’s exalted more than other nice lead singers of rock bands like Jim Adkins and Ben Gibbard.
